The fatty acid composition of a food product provides information regarding the origin and its overall quality, such as nutritional value. This work proposes fast accurate method for preparing methyl esters from wide variety products by using single-step microwave-assisted extraction derivatization coupled to reversed fill/flush flow modulation comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC) – flame ionization detector (FID) tentatively identify quantify individual acid. robustness GC×GC FID platform was successfully assessed, well reliability entire proposed procedure, assuring repeatability largely below 10%. enhanced separation obtained use allowed identification 81 FAMEs in single run 30 min. profiles with were comparable reference methods literature American Oil Chemistry Society. also proved be significant step towards greener procedure than one when evaluated based on PrepAGREE metrics that have been recently proposed.
